────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    :: Version 3.31
    :: Date: 18.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[+] In the help (H) a click on a key puts the cursor on it,
the right mouse button closes the help, as the viewers.
[+] Enter on a file that is no program shows it (for new users):
    a code file of a picture's or a font's length, with a module
in it or a text is shown or played; another code file asks
    "Run name.C? Y: yes" first (another key shows its hex dump;
without the .qco the question comes at once, another key
goes back); files of other types are shown or played as a
mouse click does (till now Enter left them alone and ran
code at once; code loaded into the screen it showed as V
    does).
[+] In the text and the sprite viewers CS+V, H and SS+V show the
file again as a text, a hex dump or sprites.
[*] V, a mouse click and Enter in the viewers show a file that
is no picture, font, text or music (V looks for no music) as
a hex dump in the text viewer: 16 bytes a line, the address
(a code file's start, else 0), the bytes in hex and as
characters, the file's first 16K (on 48K its first 4K; till
now as a text); a text is known by few control codes and
enough line ends in its first 4K, an ALASM source by its
    header.
[*] A drive chosen in the main menu whose disk has no basic
files gives the file menu, as at QC's start.
[*] The scroll bar's knob is one file's share of the bar (3
files: a third of it, 8 pixel lines at least; always 23 till
    now).
[-] After a viewer on 48K, after F and after U at the full
catalogue's end the old cursor's place could keep its
colour: a marked file's white bar, or the deleted files'
    colour on an empty place.
[-] Abort in a disk error's menu while renaming (R, CS+R),
merging (G), naming the disk (N) or erasing (E) left the
screen unlike the disk: the catalogue is read again now.
[-] After marking files by dragging with the right mouse
button the knob could stay at the file the drag began on.
[-] A mouse click in the help on the main menu's gap before
Help closed it, and in its top right corner (over the drive
buttons hidden under it) chose a drive.
[-] Under esxDOS on a Pentagon, after an NMI (esxDOS's browser)
a chequered sign could appear on the panel's frame: the CR
esxDOS's way back prints was drawn in QC's font where QC had
    printed last.
[-] Save boot (S, Quick Setup's 2) on a disk with two live
boot.B (Copy makes them) deleted the first, a shorter one,
and added QC at the end: the second became the first, which
TR-DOS runs, and the disk didn't boot QC. The other live
    boot.B are deleted now.
[-] 5 (or the mouse's third button) on a drive whose disk was
taken out went after "No Disk." to the drive chosen before,
the panel still showing the gone disk's files. The drive
    stays now, its panel empty.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    :: Version 3.23
    :: Date: 18.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[!] QC 3.23 is QC 3.22 (one file, no overlays: the version for
the ROM) with what hindered or confused new users done as in
QC 3.30 and 3.31, and with their fixes of 3.22's bugs. The
new features of 3.30 and 3.31 (the overlays, the packer, the
hex dump and others) are not in 3.23.
[+] Enter on a file that is no program shows it: a code file of
    a picture's or a font's length, with a module in it or a
text (QC knows one by few control codes and enough line ends
in its first 4K) is shown or played; another code file asks
"Run name.C? Y: yes" first (another key goes back to the
panels); files of other types are shown or played as a mouse
double click does (till now Enter left them alone and ran
code at once; code loaded into the screen it showed as V
    does).
[*] A drive chosen in the main menu whose disk has no basic
files gives the file menu, as at QC's start.
[*] D and E (delete) and M (compact the disk) ask first:
    "Delete <name>? Y: yes", "Delete N files? Y: yes",
"Move: deleted files lost for good? Y: yes".
[*] Disk errors in full words: "Write protected", "No sector"
("Prtct.", "NoSec." before); the file's name on the error's
line comes before the track and the sector.
[*] In place of a red border flash QC says what is wrong and
waits for a key: U "Not packed.", "Too long.",
"No Space. Free: N", "Cat Over. Free: 0".
[-] 5 (or the mouse's third button) on a drive whose disk was
taken out went after "No Disk." to the drive chosen before,
the panel still showing the gone disk's files. The drive
    stays now, its panel empty.
[-] Abort in a disk error's menu while renaming (R, CS+R),
merging (G), naming the disk (N) or deleting (D, E) left the
screen unlike the disk: the catalogue is read again now.
[-] Enter on a code file that reaches QC's stack as it is loaded
    (a start up to 24551, #5FE7, e.g. 24000 after CLEAR 23999):
the code was loaded over the stack, and a reset came in
place of its start. Now the stack is under the code, as
    after CLEAR.
[-] Break (Space) while the catalogue was written, then Abort,
left it half written: a file Copy wrote outside the info
sector (the next file would go over it), one D or E deleted
not counted. The catalogue is now written whole.
[-] Abort at an error reading the catalogue left a mix of the
new catalogue and the old one in memory: the next U put its
entry past the catalogue's end and its data under the next
file. Now after Abort the catalogue is empty.
[-] A disk with data past its files (its info sector says the
room past the last file is taken): Rename (R and CS+R),
Delete not at the catalogue's end, N and G wrote into it the
first free sector right after the files, and Copy then wrote
over the data. Now only Delete at the catalogue's end (as
TR-DOS's ERASE) and M (as MOVE) put the first free sector
before the one the disk has.
[-] The viewers: Enter in a viewer onto a file of 48K or longer
whose load was broken off (Abort after a disk error, or
Break) left the file's bytes on the screen in place of the
    panels.
[-] A viewer left by the mouse's right button: when the button
wasn't let go at once (after 6-8 frames) the panels took it
for a right click: the file under the pointer marked, the
    cursor on it.
[-] Quick Setup's Disk Doctor (item 6): K told the catalogue's
copy kept even when track 161 wasn't written, and E on a
disk with a bad track 0 (the catalogue's copy written but
not reading back) told the catalogue restored, with an X on
    the map.
[-] Quick Setup on Scorpion with its TR-DOS 5.03: Save boot and
the ROM image (items 2 and 3) on a drive TR-DOS hadn't used
yet (B after a start from A) ended in "Disk error.": TR-DOS
checked the drive when it was chosen. Quick Setup now sets
every drive's step time at its start without that check, as
    QC does.
[-] Save boot (Quick Setup's item 2) on a disk with two live
boot.B (Copy makes them) deleted the first, a shorter one,
and added QC at the end: the second became the first, which
TR-DOS runs, and the disk didn't boot QC. The other live
    boot.B are deleted now.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    :: Version 3.30
    :: Date: 16.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[!] The picture, text and sprite viewers left QC for overlays: a
file beside QC on its disk ("QC 3.30 .qco", type q), under
esxDOS /SYS/TRDBOOT.OVR on the SD card. On 128K and more QC
reads it at the start into pages of memory that a reset
doesn't clear either, and doesn't read it again while this
version's overlays are whole there (QC checks their
checksum); on 48K the viewer needed is read from the disk at
each call. Without the file QC works, but the viewers ask
for it ("Needs ..."), and QC offers to load it when a
catalogue read finds it; till then the menu items that need
it are dim (under esxDOS disk_Utils too: it doesn't work
there; on 48K Pack and Saveboot). "ovr" in the window of the
modes: the overlays are there; "esx" is now on the right of
the machine's line. QC's file is a third shorter (44 sectors
instead of 62 in 3.22), so with the overlays in memory QC
loads and unpacks faster than before.
[+] P (Pack) packs the file under the cursor with ZX0 by QC's
own packer on the Spectrum itself: a file of up to 255
sectors is read from the disk, and the packed one
(.z_<type>, U gives the type back) written into the free
space as it packs, its catalogue entry at the end; A stops
it. On 128K and more. It packs better than Hrust 2 (H in
QC 3.11), and 1.5 to 3 times as fast.
The file menu shows Pack (Rename there is Ren now).
[+] The view of ALASM 4.x sources (type H) as a text with
colours, made for QC 4.00, is in the release now. Labels,
instructions, jumps, directives, operands and comments
each in a colour of their own, as in an IDE.
[+] TurboSound in muZ: the player is Sergey Bulba's PTSPlay
(release 0) in place of PTxPlay; two AYs play Vortex Tracker
II's pairs of modules and Alone Coder's TurboSound modules
of Pro Tracker 3.7 (TS2 under the clock; TS1: one AY, the
    first module plays).
[+] C in muZ: the order of the AY's channels in turn, ABC, ACB,
BAC; QC's setting (Quick Setup's Tunes, Save boot saves it).
[+] The picture viewer draws the border of .bsc screens: its
picture is made into code that puts the colours out as
the beam goes (lines alike one after another by a loop).
The machine is told by its frame's length: a Pentagon (and
    a ZX-Evolution in either configuration), a 48K, a 128K, a
Scorpion, and a +2A/+3 (a 128K's frame) by its ROM; on
other machines the border is in one colour, as before. If
the border is drawn approximately (or in one colour), a
sign of two wavy lines is in the picture's corner.
[+] The picture viewer shows gigascreens (.img, 13824 bytes):
their two screens in turn each frame. On 128K and more.
In the panel such files (and the type i, .img) have the
    pictures' colour.
[+] U, the viewers and muZ unpack Hrust 1 too ("HR" blocks, the
format of Hrumer's DEHRUST): by the same depacker as
Hrust 2, within the same lengths.
[+] ZX-Evolution on the panel: "evo" with either
configuration, and in esx's place which one: "bs"
    (Baseconf) or "ts" (TS-Conf).
[*] In place of a red border flash QC says what is wrong and
waits for a key: U "Not packed.", "Too long.", "No Space.
Free: N", "Cat Over. Free: 0"; Save boot "Not available
    on 48K.", "No resident.".
[*] E and D (erase) and M (compact the disk) ask first:
"Erase <name>? Y: yes", "Erase N files? Y: yes", "Move:
deleted files lost for good? Y: yes".
[*] Deleting is named Erase in the file menu, as TR-DOS's
ERASE: the main key is E (D erases too).
[*] Disk errors in full words: "Write protected", "No
sector" ("Prtct.", "NoSec." before); the file's name on
the error's line comes before the track and the sector.
[*] The disk menu is in QC again, as before 3.22 (Keepcat, Show,
rEstcat, Checkdisk, Resdisk, Format), as an overlay named
    disk_Utils: U in the boot mode (till 3.22 Care_menu, C); its
work is Quick Setup 3.22's Disk Doctor's. A sector that
isn't read is tried 4 times and counted with no questions
(till 3.22 Retry, Abort, Ignore, Skip); Checkdisk, as in
3.21, writes again a track whose sector was read at the
second try too; at the end Checkdisk and Resdisk tell how
many tracks were written again and how many are bad, Format
the bad ones if any; rEstcat asks Y and keeps the other
sectors of track 0. The autoKeep mode is gone. Disk Doctor
left Quick Setup: the SD card's images are item 6 now.
[*] Save boot is in QC again, as before 3.22: S in the boot
mode, Saveboot in the main menu (an overlay). The
overlays' file is written beside boot.B; each file takes
the place of the old one, as in Quick Setup (a longer one
leaves the rest of its sectors as a deleted file, M takes
it back). No Save boot on 48K. Saveboot took the place of
the word space (Space still opens the file menu).
[*] The help (? and H) is interactive: the keys in two columns,
a cursor over them, and under them what the key under the
cursor does; Space switches QC to the other menu (the main
or the file menu) and shows its help. The help lies in the
    overlays now.
[*] muZ's modes under the clock as signs (>> fast, || the pause,
a circle the looping, the order of the channels) in place of
the words Fast, Loop, Pause. The player lies in the overlays
now; the AY analyzer is drawn several times faster, and the
clock is updated every 8th frame while the music plays.
[*] Quick Setup writes the overlays with QC: with Save boot
beside boot.B, with TRDBOOT.BIN as /SYS/TRDBOOT.OVR. The kit
    has TRDBOOT.OVR beside TRDBOOT.BIN.
[*] M on a disk whose deleted files are all at the
catalogue's end takes them off and frees their room, as
TR-DOS's MOVE does (3.11 did nothing, and 3.22 after
another M could write extra deleted entries into the
    catalogue).
[*] A Spectrum +2A or +3 is named "+2/3" on the panel (by its
    ROM, "+2/3 128k"), not "zx".
[*] Space, A and the left mouse button change the colours of
the usual screens alone; .bsc and gigascreens keep their
    own.
[*] The text viewer's W and M modes (the wrap, the colour codes)
and the key click (S in the viewers) are QC's settings now:
Quick Setup sets them (Text wrap, Text codes, Key click),
Save boot saves them. Till 3.30 the viewer always started
with no wrap and the colours, and the click was on after a
    start.
[*] The text viewer is faster: a text of 64K opens in 0.2 s
instead of two (it finds the lines as it goes, not all at
once), W (the wrap) switches at once, a page turns a fifth
faster. A text may have any number of lines (5460 at most
till now), on 48K its first 16K are shown (12K). The
percent counts bytes, not lines (100% at the last page, as
before). M (the colours) keeps the text at its line instead
of going back to its start.
[*] ZX0 files open in the viewers and muZ, and U unpacks them,
faster: the stream's check before unpacking is fast now (a
    text of 16K 0.45 s sooner, of 32K 1 s; 3.20-3.22 had a
    slower one to save room).
[?] Q, A, O, P no longer move the cursor (as made for QC 4.00),
in Quick Setup too: 6, 7, 8, 9 and the cursor keys do. In
the boot mode these letters now run their programs, as the
others do; S and U there are Save boot and disk_Utils now,
    not programs' letters.
[?] The buffer of Copy and Move is 32K smaller: pages #D6 and
#D4 hold the overlays (on 128K 256 sectors instead of 384:
pages 0, 1, 3 and 7). QC keeps the panels' screen under a
viewer in the buffer's third page, not its fourth (on 128K
the fourth is the resident's), so after a file over 32K, not
48K (a Hrust-packed one: over 16K of data), the panels are
    drawn anew.
[?] U (unpacking) is in the overlays now: without their file it
isn't available, the menu item Unpack dim.
[?] QC no longer goes into the Shadow RAM with I held at its
start: Quick Setup does it (item 5).
[?] Quick Setup's setting Resident (smart, off) is gone: with
over 128K QC always keeps the resident's page out of the
buffer, on 128K it is in the buffer as before (its last page
    now).
[-] A program that can go back to QC through the resident could
jump into overwritten code: on 128K Copy and Move overwrote
the resident, its mark at the page's end kept. Now before
running a program or going to TR-DOS (t) QC checks the
resident by its checksum and wipes an overwritten one's
mark; Save boot checks the sum too.
[-] Enter on a code file starting at 23904..24551 (#5D60-
    #5FE7, e.g. 24000 after CLEAR 23999) that reaches QC's
stack: the code was loaded over the stack, and a reset came
in place of its start. Now the stack is under the code, as
    after CLEAR.
[-] Break (Space) while the catalogue was written, then Abort,
left it half written: a file Copy wrote outside the info
sector (the next file would go over it), one Erase deleted
not counted. The catalogue is now written whole.
[-] Abort at an error reading the catalogue left a mix of the
new catalogue and the old one in memory: the next U put its
entry past the catalogue's end and its data under the next
file. Now after Abort the catalogue is empty.
[-] Copy with one drive: at the second and later "Insert
OUTPUT." and "Insert INPUT." QC took any disk in the drive,
and the input disk left there got the output's catalogue
and data. Now another disk gives "Bad disk.". Cancelled
with another disk than the input one in the drive, it
showed the input's catalogue (Enter on a file ran another
disk's sectors); now it shows the disk in the drive.
[-] A disk with data past its files (its info sector says
the room past the last file is taken): Rename (R and
CS+R), Delete not at the catalogue's end, N and G wrote
into it the first free sector right after the files, and
Copy then wrote over the data. QC 3.22 kept it only till
the first write of the catalogue.
[-] M aborted inside a write: the part of the block written
before the Abort wasn't counted, and a file whose old place
it reached stayed in the catalogue, spoilt. M with "No
Space" (the info sector telling a smaller disk): after Abort
U's next file lost its entry, and after another key M went
on as a copy of the files to the end of the same disk. M
aborted before its writes (Abort while reading) left the
files marked, and the next M did nothing.
[-] Work with the disk (Quick Setup 3.22's Disk Doctor): K told
the catalogue's copy kept even when track 161 wasn't
written, and E on a disk with a bad track 0 (the catalogue's
copy written but not reading back) told the catalogue
restored, with an X on the map.
Quick Setup now sets
every drive's step time at its start without that check, as
    QC does.
[-] The text viewer: the word wrap (w) didn't always see a space
or a punctuation mark before a tab, and broke the line in
the middle of a word. A UTF-8 text whose "..." of one
character fell on the end of its first 4K was at times
recoded whole before the first screen: a long one in up to
    1.6 s, not 0.5. A tab right after a character in column 6,
14, 22... took the text 8 columns further than it should,
and after one in column 62 into the next row of the screen
(under the bottom row: into the information line).
[-] muZ (and Enter, and a click on a file) didn't find a module
whose header begins in the last 63 bytes of a 16K part of
the file, and a module from a part's last 6912 bytes longer
than the piece glued to it played with garbage. Now the
header is looked for across the parts' boundary too, and a
module of up to 16K that crosses it is gathered whole into
one part (other such modules weren't played before).
[-] The mouse: in a disk error's line (Retry Abort Ignore) a
click on R's left edge or on the I did nothing, and after a
click on the gap between words the next one took the wrong
item (Retry gave Abort). A click let go not at once went
on: on a file it also opened its view, on Copy with one
drive it answered "Insert OUTPUT." (the file written to the
same disk), in a disk error's line and in a line being
typed (a name, a mask) it also ran the panels' menu item
under the pointer, and with the right button it marked the
file under the pointer (leaving a viewer too). Now a click
acts once, however long the button is held.
[-] Viewing: Enter onto a file of 48K or more, its load broken
off (Abort after a disk error, or Break), left the file's
bytes on the screen in place of the panels.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    :: Version 3.22
    :: Date: 11.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[+] The sprite viewer (Symbol Shift+v) is back: it was off
    in QC 3.21.
[+] The text viewer (V) works on 48K too: the first 12K of
a text, 1365 lines at most.
[+] Quick Setup carries QC and offers what to do with it,
a menu: start QC (item 1), save it as boot.B on any disk
(2; an old boot.B longer than it leaves the rest of its
sectors as a deleted file, M takes it back), as the ROM
image (3: qc_rom.C, or QC.ROM on the SD card), as
TRDBOOT.BIN under esxDOS (4), in the Shadow RAM (5). Each
shows QC's settings first: those of the QC already there,
else the last ones; K keeps them in Quick Setup's file.
[+] Quick Setup: Disk Doctor (item 6) - QC's Care menu's
Format, Check and Restore, with a map of the 160 tracks,
and Keep, Show and rEstore of the catalogue's copy on
track 161 (Show lists the entries that differ).
[+] Quick Setup under esxDOS, item 7: the SD card's images,
chosen in the card's folders for the drives A-D, taken
out, a new empty TRD image made.
[*] The kit's disk has no qc_rom.C and trdboot.C any more:
Quick Setup makes them (the kit's archive keeps
    QC_3_22.rom and TRDBOOT.BIN).
[*] QC and Quick Setup tell esxDOS by its TR-DOS
emulation's answer (LW's tip), not by the DivMMC's ROM:
a DivMMC with its automatic paging off is no longer
taken for esxDOS, and QC writes no DivMMC port.
[*] The main menu (the boot mode) shows space: Space opens
the file menu, and the word can be clicked with the mouse.
[?] The Care menu (Keep, Show, rEstcat, Check disk, Restore
disk, Format), the autoKeep mode (the catalogue's copy on
track 161 at each write) and Save boot are gone from QC:
they are of use on real floppies alone, and esxDOS's and
a Gotek's images have no track 161. All but autoKeep
    moved to Quick Setup.
[?] Quick Setup no longer sets up QC 3.05-3.21 in place (its
files on a disk, its ROM image, the resident, the Shadow
    RAM's): it saves its own QC there with their settings;
an older QC is set up by its own kit's Quick Setup.
[?] Quick Setup no longer sets Keep track and Keep sector.
[-] M on a disk with no deleted file but an old deleted
file's entry past the catalogue's end spoilt the
    catalogue: files in it twice.
[-] A disk whose catalogue has entries of no sectors at 0/0
(pictures drawn by the file names): QC took 0/0 for the
first free sector, and Copy to such a disk wrote over
the catalogue. Now the free room is after the last file
with sectors, and not before the disk's own record.
[-] U after an aborted (Abort) Copy wrote its file on the
disk, but the entry never got into the catalogue.
[-] The disk's info sector: another disk of the same files
(two empty ones, say) QC took for the one before and
    wrote the first one's info sector (its name) over it;
after an aborted Copy the next write of the catalogue
put garbage there (the copy's order).
[-] A broken packed file (Hrust) of 32K of data or more
could spoil the screen a viewer keeps: leaving the view
showed garbage in place of the panels.
[-] M longer than the memory, aborted (Abort) after its
first part was written: the files not moved yet were
gone from the catalogue. Now they stay in their places
(a deleted file before them); lost is only a file whose
new copy already lay over its old place.
[-] Symbol Shift+p (the quote) made drive B the output
    drive, as Symbol Shift+2 does.
[-] Copy, when the memory ran out, showed the next page of
the catalogue if the file being copied was the last on
    its own.
[-] The text viewer: an ACEdit line colour (the code before
the line's end) didn't work with CR LF line ends.
[-] The mouse: in the screen's top left corner a click went
to the place where the pointer had been before.
[-] The text viewer: when C's reading of the file in the
other coding was aborted on a disk error (Abort), the
next text was shown once in that coding.
[-] The player: with the mouse's pointer near the analyzer
the first frame held the music's start up (to 0.6 s)
and drew the position mark past its bar, which stayed
    after the view.
[-] U: an unpacked code file's start was two spaces (#2020,
the ROM); now #8000 (the real start is lost at packing).
[-] QC's ROM version (QC_3_22.rom and the ROM image of Quick
Setup's item 3) didn't start: a black screen, reset over
and over. Fixed on 15.10.2026, as the two bugs below: the
3.22 kit rebuilt (the archive of 11.10.2026 is without
    these fixes).
[-] Disk Doctor: Check and Restore after one failed try to
    read a track's address mark (a sector's damaged header,
say) wrote the whole track again as zeros, and rEstore so
zeroed track 0's sectors past the catalogue.
[-] Copy of 128 files to a disk of 127 or 128 files didn't say
"Cat Over": the data were written, the catalogue's entries
    past the 128th lost.

    :: Version 3.21
    :: Date: 08.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[!] QC works under esxDOS on a DivMMC with TRD images on
the SD card, through its TR-DOS emulation: tried with
0.8.9 on the Spectrum 48, 128, +2A/+3 and Pentagon in
emulators (it finds 0.8.5 and later; the ZX-Uno and the
Next in its esxDOS mode not tried). QC finds
esxDOS itself and shows "esxDOS" in the window of the
modes. What an image has no use for is off there: the
Care menu (C says "Not available under esxDOS.") and
the autoKeep mode. T leaves QC for esxDOS's own TR-DOS,
as for a program. A drive with no image says "No Disk."
at once. SMUC's clock doesn't work under esxDOS, and QC
    turns it off.
[!] Under esxDOS QC can be the default boot: the file
TRDBOOT.BIN on the SD card in place of TR-DOS Navigator,
and Enter in the browser on any image with no boot of
its own starts QC. Quick Setup installs it, sets it up
and updates it (Navigator kept as TRDBOOT.NAV).
[!] Quick Setup sets up not only QC's files on a disk but
also QC's ROM image (qc_rom.C), its resident in the
memory, the Shadow RAM and under esxDOS TRDBOOT.BIN on
the SD card: at the start it shows where it found QC and
    asks what to set up.
[*] The kit: the disk image QC_3_21.TRD (its first file
boot, a copy of QC's) in place of QC_3_21.SCL. esxDOS
0.8.9 doesn't write to an SCL, older versions don't open
one. The image also has the ROM image (qc_rom.C) and
    TRDBOOT.BIN (trdboot.C) for Quick Setup.
[*] Save boot (S) writes the boot in the place of the disk's
    first boot.B (the one TR-DOS runs) if they are as long;
else that one is deleted and the new boot added at the
end. Till now the new boot was always added at
the catalogue's end and never ran if the disk already
had a boot (the kit's image, for one).
[*] If QC starts in the main menu and the disk has no basic
files, it opens the file menu at once (Space takes it
back to the main menu, as ever).
[*] The window of the modes: "autoKeep" and "Full" in place
of "aKeep" and "Fullcat"; autoKeep (under esxDOS
"esxDOS") under the machine, Full under "res".
[*] The kit's texts in English: this history (hist_en.txt);
the short description is readme.txt (was file_id.diz).
[?] The sprite viewer (Symbol Shift+v) is off for now: its
room is needed for the work under esxDOS.
[-] The CMOS clock: on a grey 128 and +2 without the clock
QC showed the time ??:??:?? (the clock's ports give the
screen's bytes there). Now at the start QC reads the
clock's register for a whole frame and without the clock
    works without the CMOS.
[-] Quick Setup reads the settings back after writing them
to a disk and says "Not saved" if they aren't there.
It said "Saved." after Ignore on a write-protected disk
too. If the disk in the drive was changed, S writes
nothing, and R and N look for QC on the new disk (S
wrote the settings into another file where the old one
was). After a disk error ? goes back to it, not to "No
QC". QC 3.11b3 is set up as 3.05-3.11, not as 3.20.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    :: Version 3.20
    :: Date: 05.10.2026
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

[!] Files packed with ZX0 (Einar Saukas) are unpacked as
    Hrust's are: U and the viewers (v, V, z, Symbol Shift+v,
Enter). A ZX0 stream is recognised by itself, in any
file (ZX0 has no header), and viewing plain files is no
slower for this check. QC's standard for such files:
.zx0 (type z, "x0" in the start field) and .z_<type>
(type z, "_" and the original type, as Hrust's
.p_<type>): U gives that type back, and the panel
colours such a file as its original type.
[!] The text viewer reads UTF-8: the text is turned into
cp866 (Russian letters, pseudographics and the font's
signs as they are, quotes, dashes, Ukrainian and
Belarusian letters as similar signs, the rest as ?). The
coding is found by itself, C switches DOS/UTF (the file
is loaded again). The first screen of a big text comes
    sooner.
[!] Help: ? and H show the mode's keys and what they do (in
a frame over the panels); a key in the help runs its
command, ? and H close it. The menus at the bottom are
in words, with Help: "Copy Move Delete Rename merGe View
    Unpack muZ" and "Care_menu diskName Tr-dos Run_in_48k
Saveboot"; the other keys are in the help.
[!] Quick Setup 3.20 on the kit's disk (QS 3.20, the idea is
Looker's, his QS 1.0 was for 3.04): the settings of QC
3.05-3.20 in its file on a disk - the mode at the start,
the drives, the full catalogue, the tunes, the load (of
3.05-3.11), the resident, the CMOS, the catalogue's
copy, the drives' speed, the colours of the file types
and of QC. The keys as in QC, the mouse; Save writes,
    Default puts the release's values.
[!] The player is Sergey Bulba's PTxPlay (release 1, 2007)
in place of the PT3 player r6. It plays PT2 modules too:
a module with no text in its header is found by the
    header's structure in the file's first 3K (UniSearch's
search). In modules of PT 3.7 and later the commands 1
and 2 with delay 0 shift the tone by one step, as the
editor does (they didn't before). The title line shows
the module's format (PT3.x, VT II or PT2).
[+] U and the viewers unpack Hrust and ZX0 files of more
than 32K: data up to 64K (Hrust's up to 56K) are
unpacked right into the pages, with no joining and no
moving of the commander's memory. On a 48K up to 16K
(Hrust's up to 14K). U takes a file of any length (was
up to 128 sectors) and writes data up to 65280 bytes
(255 sectors). Hrust unpacks faster (files from 16K by
    19-25%).
[+] The panel shows the machine and all its memory in lower
case (zx 128k, pen 1024k, evo 4096k; atm, k/s, pro), and
res on the right (was "resid"). Buffer is in the main
menu too now (in place of Memory). For the buffer QC
takes up to 1024K, as before; the ZX-Evolution is found
by its port x7F7 (#F7F7), and the panel shows all its
    4096K.
[+] The picture viewer: screens with a border (.bsc, 11136
bytes). The screen is shown as usual, and the border in
one colour, the one most frequent in its picture. The
border's picture itself isn't shown yet.
[+] Rename: the cursor keys down and up write the name, as
Enter does, and at once rename the next or the previous
file (as made for QC 4.00).
[+] The picture viewer: A changes the colours, as Space does
    (as made for QC 4.00).
[+] The mouse in Quick Setup (Mouse): the buttons can be
swapped (swapped: on the ZX-Evolution the left button is
bit 0 of the port #FADF, on a Kempston mouse the right
    one is).
[+] The mouse: a left click on the line "Quick Commander"
switches the main and the file menu, as Space does.
[+] The text for developers: the configurations and their
ports, the settings in QC's file, the resident and the
return to QC from a program, the work with TR-DOS, the
file formats, the ZX0 depacker's licence.
[+] The descriptions in English: guide_en.txt and
    tech_en.txt.
[*] The commander is packed with ZX0 (Einar Saukas) in place
of Hrust: the file is shorter, unpacking at the start is
    faster (0.6 s in place of 0.9 s). U and the viewers
    unpack Hrust files as before.
[*] The mouse pointer is an arrow (as made for QC 4.00) in
place of an inverted 4x8 box: it moves by pixels, is
seen over the text, doesn't jump to the screen's other
edge when moved fast. It is seen while files are marked
with the right button and while music plays. The same
    arrow in Quick Setup.
[*] Save boot and "res" in the panel check the resident at
its page's end too (the mark "Residentpresent!"), not
only at its start: if a program spoilt the end (with its
stack, say), the boot isn't saved (as made for QC 4.00).
[*] Break (Caps Shift+Space) closes the text, sprite and
picture viewers, as Edit does (as made for QC 4.00).
Break was Space before: it turned the text a page,
    changed a picture's colours.
[*] Unpacking is U in place of N (as made for QC 4.00), the
name is asked with the words "Unpack file:".
[*] In the boot mode H is the help: the list's program H is
    run by Enter and 0.
[*] The messages are shorter: "Bad disk." in place of
"Incorrect disk.", "Formatting..." in place of
"Formating disk...", "Mask:" in place of "Mask for
files:" (renaming by a mask, CS+R).
[*] The kit has TR-DOS 6.11E (Alone Coder, 2006) in place of
    6.10E.
[*] The description is split into three texts: the
commander's description (guide_ru.txt), this history of
changes (hist_ru.txt) and the description for developers
    (tech_ru.txt).
[?] The command H (packing a file with Hrust) is gone: its
memory is needed for the new. Unpacking (U) and viewing
packed files stay. With it went S in the file mode: it
switched the packing's speed (faStpack/Slowpack in the
panel, that word is gone too). In the boot mode S is
    Save boot, as before.
[?] The text viewer: the codings WIN (cp1251) and KOI8-R are
gone, DOS (cp866) and UTF-8 stay.
[?] The key Y (about the author) is gone, and the mouse
click on the commander's name that called it.
[?] The extensions .v and .V (Vortex Tracker II modules,
since 3.05) are no longer coloured: "superfluous"
(Sergey Bulba), as made for QC 4.00. Their bytes in the
    setup stay in place, unused.
[?] Enter on code runs it at once, from its start address
(as made for QC 4.00): the load and the start addresses
are no longer asked. Code that loads into the screen
(start #4000..#5AFF: a picture or memory from the
screen) Enter shows as V does. Files of other types than
basic and code Enter doesn't run.
[?] The fast loader Ursula 2.4 (Nick Patlaenko) is gone: the
commander's code is loaded by TR-DOS's function #3D13
(as made for QC 4.00). From a floppy QC starts about 0.4
s later, but it loads wherever TR-DOS works: in
emulators without the VG93's ports, from virtual drives
    and a RAM disk.
[-] On the Pentagon 512/1024/4096 and KAY 1024 the
    resident's page (#D7) is the 31st (KAY's the 23rd), and
QC took it for the 7th: Copy and Move overwrote the
resident, and the ROM version put its code into page 7
but looked for it, the settings and the resident in the
31st (23rd): the settings from the CMOS were lost or
taken from random bytes, "resid" wasn't there, Save boot
didn't work. Now QC finds that page itself.
[-] ZX-Evolution: QC saw 512K in place of 1024K and turned
the turbo on: the Pentagon 4096 probe (port #AFF7) hit
#EFF7 and turned the Pentagon 1024 mode on, and the
clock (Gluk) wrote 0 to #EFF7 at every access (in the
MAME emulator Copy of more than 128K hung from it). Now
the ATM ports are tried first, and the clock leaves the
memory and the turbo bits in #EFF7.
[-] Mr Gluk Reset Service 6.3+: bit 7 of the CMOS cell #10
forbids Gluk to remember the drive, and QC with the CMOS
writing on wrote the drive's number there and lifted
that ban. Now with bit 7 QC leaves the cell #10 alone.
[-] Copy aborted (Abort) on "No Space", "Cat Over" or a
write error: the next write of the input disk's
catalogue counted the free space by the output disk's
size (with disks of different sizes, a wrong number of
    free sectors).
[-] After "No Disk." on the same drive (the disk taken out,
    5) the head lost its cylinder: the disk put back was
read from the wrong tracks (v showed other sectors).
[-] Format: with no disk it began formatting (now, as Check,
it first checks that the disk spins); after an aborted
(Abort) copy to another drive it formatted the tracks
off their places; aborted with the key a right after the
start it spoilt track 159; after Ignore on a verify
error the rest of the track was read from track 23.
[-] K (aKeep) on a write-protected disk with Abort: the mode
switched though nothing was written to the disk, and the
next write of the catalogue set or cleared the mark on
the disk. Now everything stays as on the disk.
[-] Rename: Russian letters in the extension's 2nd and 3rd
sign spoilt the file's start address, and the extension
wasn't saved. Now such an extension isn't taken, the
    start stays whole.
[-] A file whose length is a multiple of 256 and doesn't
match its number of sectors had its length counted 255
bytes more than fits in its sectors.
[-] Hrust unpacking (U and the viewers): a file with data of
more than 32K spoilt the memory, a block longer than 32K
(its end lost: so the command H saved it) crashed the
commander, and a file with an incompressible end gave
    rubbish or hung.
[-] The player: hung on a module with 0 positions in its
header (broken or altered modules); a module longer than
16K or crossing the boundary of the file's 16K parts
played the ROM in place of its end (such modules aren't
played now); after p, f, l a channel on the envelope was
silent till the module set it again; a mouse click on
line 23 in the pause gave a random key.
[-] Enter in the text, picture or sprite viewer (the next
file): the player took a module past the file's first
16K from the wrong memory page (rubbish or a hang), and
with a file longer than 48K the music went over its
bytes in place of the panels.
[-] The sprite viewer (Symbol Shift+v): with a file longer
than 48K the screen was shown past 48K in place of the
    file.
[-] The mouse: on a grey 128 and +2 with no mouse QC took it
for connected (its ports give the screen's bytes), and
the pointer jumped. Now at the start the mouse's buttons
are read for a whole frame (as made for QC 4.00).
[-] The mouse: a click on a drive button chose the drive
during "No Disk." too, a disk error (and the next click
on Retry didn't work), in the care menu. Now a click is
as a key (1-4 for the input drive, Symbol Shift+1-4 for
the output), and the drive is chosen only in the panels.
[-] Marking files by dragging with the right mouse button:
on the scroll bar a file was marked where the pointer
wasn't, and after the menu of line 23 or a drive button
files were no longer marked (the button chose the drive
    too).
[-] After a disk check (Check, Resdisk) not aborted with
Abort, a disk error in another command (Copy, Save...)
showed "Skip" in place of the file's name, though s
    doesn't work there.
[-] Buffer on a 128K (and at the start with w) showed 320
sectors in place of 384 if page 8 isn't used: a page
that isn't there was taken off. Copy and Move took all
    384.
[-] The scroll bar's knob sometimes didn't move (with 128
files, from the 22nd file to the 23rd) and was redrawn
for nothing when the cursor stayed on the same file.
[-] The text viewer: the codes 11 and 12 in the colour modes
were shown as other signs of the font.
[-] The picture viewer: on a screen without attributes (6144
bytes) the right 8 pixels of the last line were spoilt.
[-] Hrust unpacking (U and the viewers): a block with no
data after its header (so oh2c packs an empty file)
overwrote the commander's memory, and a block with a
zero data length U saved as a file of 0 sectors and
rewrote a track on the disk. Now such blocks aren't
    unpacked.
[-] A file of 0 sectors (the catalogue's lines and labels):
    v, V, z, Symbol Shift+v, a click on it and U read 255
sectors from where it points (the catalogue or the next
files), and U could unpack the next file under its name.
Now such a file isn't read.
[-] A sector with the deleted data mark (protected disks):
the error message showed the wrong track and sector, and
Ignore reset the machine. Now it is Error, as TR-DOS's
DISC ERROR, and Retry, Abort, Ignore work.
[-] Copy and Save to a disk with old entries left past the
catalogue's end (so it is on others' disks): they got
into the catalogue, the free space shrank, and when
several files were copied the entries of the second and
the next pointed not at their data. Now the catalogue's
end is set after a new entry, as Erase and m do.
